There was never any "DDoS," only high demand and the decision to cheap out on a barebones server.

On the 4th of July, Wollay stated that user registrations are LIKE a DDoS attack, which runs contrary to his later claims that he was experiencing real DDoS's. Equally as important, HE STATED THAT DISABLING USER REGISTRATION RESOLVED THE DDOS'S. IF THEY WERE REAL DDOS'S, THIS WOULD HAVE DONE LITTLE, IF ANYTHING, TO IMPEDE THEM. This shows he knew that he wasn't being DDoSed, but later changed his story for sympathy and more widespread coverage of his game. Bleeding hearts fell for his manufactured narrative hook, line, and sinker without bothering to research whether or not his claims were true. Let's tear his narrative apart with even more proof; there's plenty of it to go around.

Wollay's server, based on a free-to-use Cloudflare plan, struggling to handle a measly ~93 Mb/s of data.

Here's relevant DDoS data from the year that this drama went down. His server was "hit" by approximately 1/4,150th (0.02%) of the data of 1 average DDoS attack for that year, and these "attacks" always occurred during peak or near-peak traffic hours: so it was obviously never a DDoS, yet he claimed it was anyway.

THIS IS LIKE HIM GETTING 1 TINY SPLINTER ENTIRELY DUE TO HIS OWN CARELESSNESS, LACK OF PLANNING, LACK OF TESTING, AND NOT WANTING TO SPEND ANY MONEY ON A DECENT PLANK THAT WOULDN'T GIVE HIM SPLINTERS, THEN CONTACTING AS MANY JOURNALISTS AS HE COULD TO CLAIM THAT HE WAS MALICIOUSLY COVERED IN 4,150 SPLINTERS IN A TARGETED ATTACK, AND HE WANTS PEOPLE TO SUPPORT HIM EVEN MORE.

On July 3rd, he admitted that his launcher's poorly programmed updating system, which sent & received more data than necessary from the website's server, was contributing to the website being overloaded with data.

Proof of high demand for CW, with tens of thousands of people attempting to play it simultaneously. Not a 1:1 metric for user registration, of course, but this still serves to show people that it's not a tiny game with only hundreds of players interested in it, but rather tens of thousands of people attempting to play it simultaneously.

THIS WAS ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE MORE THAN ENOUGH TO CRASH THE CW WEBSITE.

On July 2nd 2013, before upgrading the download/update system, his website & download server, which were hosted on a free-to-use Cloudflare plan, couldn't handle significant traffic.

More poor programming and lack of diligent testing leading to Wollay shooting himself in the foot by overloading his website. He will later claim this was a "DDoS."
