Level 1612, Walmart Welcome to Level 1612 of the Backrooms, also known as Walmart, for its uncany similar appearance to the real world store. The level is a mostly normal 'Walmarts store', with its familiar layout and shelves stocked with any products you would in in a walmart, aisles for household products, fridges, fresh produce, etc. However, there is an eerie atmosphere as the store appears abandoned, devoid of customers and staff. The lights flickering occasionally, or even breaking and going out entirely. the once lively Walmart seems to have frozen in time. The intercom crackling to life at regular intervals, seemingly every 6 hours, its only message echoing through the empty store: "Attention shoppers, please make your way to the back storage rooms of the store." The voice devoid of any warmth or familiarity. Navigating the aisles remains relatively straightforward, but there's an unshakable feeling that you're being watched. The occasional creaking of the shopping carts and faint shuffling noises in the distance, ranging from a can dropping, to just items settling on the shelf.
Upon reaching the back rooms, you discover an unusual arrangement of storage areas, utility rooms, and offices. The lighting here is dimmer than the rest of the store, casting long shadows that seem to shift subtly with each step. However, you notice that unlike the middle and front of the store, there's a palpable sense of safety and here. The back rooms seem to offer some form of protection from the entity, as it rarely ventures into this area, making this the safest place to be inside of level. Although it can be hard to find inside of the massive level, after all the level had 4 walls, only one of them being the back rooms.
This levels entity doesn’t have much of name besides simply the shadow, or the dark. Whenever the intercom plays, announcing its message, it emerges from the darkness and prowls through the aisles, moving fluidly threw the shadows, searching for intruders. The entity is attracted to sound and movement, so remaining still and silent during these moments is crucial to avoid its attention.
It seems to be a living shadow, that prefers to move from shadow to shadow almost like liquid, although it very well can physically manifest itself, and not only inside shadows. So far the entity has only been spotted at “night time”, which is signaled by the over head voice intercom.
The back storage rooms of the level is the only confirmed safe space, it mostly made up up storage shelves and things such as garbage cans or forklifts, and other back rooms type supplies. The occasional manager's office can be found which is often where wonderers will try to make it into some kind of base, the small room safe enough to comfortably sleep and hide in The entity's eerie whispers may occasionally reach your ears, tempting you to leave the safety of the back rooms and explore the store further, but you must resist the temptation to avoid falling prey to its grasp. On rare occasions, the lights in the back area have gone out, usually only in sections, but the entire back rooms have once or twice. The only lights remaining being inside the offices, or man made. It’s also rumored that a “managers key” exists inside a few of the offices, and they can be used to unlock the front entrance and escape to the next level.
